Walks & Tours

Wilcox House Tour

Join us for a guided tour of the historic Wilcox House (also known as the Markham House). The guide will be Frank Cozza, who portrays William “Phil” Markham who built the house for his mistress Blanche Shortman. Blanche will be portrayed by Samantha Joseph.
These tours are held 3-4 times a year, depending on availability of First Financial Strategies, who leases the building. Timed tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page. Tours last just under an hour. These events sell out quickly so don’t hesitate to purchase!
Thank you to Ernie Hughes and First Financial Strategies for making these tours possible.

Ghosts of Plymouth Walk

Hear the tales of early Plymouth from the characters themselves. The Ghosts of Plymouth Walk is traditionally held the last Saturday in April.
The walks last up to 90 minutes and are held at various locations around Plymouth. Timed tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page.

The Ghosts of Plymouth Walk is sponsored by ATS Advisors.

Plymouth Ghosts Cemetery Walk

The Plymouth Ghosts Cemetery Walk is traditionally held the second or third Saturday of October. Come meet some of the ghosts who have walked Plymouth’s streets in days gone by. Each walk is all-new–we don’t repeat the characters that we represent. This event is designed to be educational–not scary–and the staff of the Museum takes every precaution to be respectful of the final resting places of Plymouth residents.

Timed tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page.

The walk lasts approximately an hour and goes over rough ground in a cemetery. Please wear walking shoes and bring an umbrella if rain threatens. This event is rain or shine. If you’re coming to a walk at one of the later times, you should bring a flashlight as it is dark in the cemetery.

Teas & Murder Mysteries

Adult Teas

The Plymouth Historical Museum is known for putting on wonderful teas. We aim to hold two adult teas a year–one in February/March and one in October/November. Sometimes we have a fashion show and sometimes a speaker is on the menu. Our tea delectables are provided by our fabulous caterer, Diann Dupuis, who has been making tea treats for us for more than ten years. We always serve the Museum’s own special tea “Mary’s Blend”—a tantalizing cherry and almond black tea blend in honor of Mary Todd Lincoln. As with our other events, tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page.

These teas are 2-4 pm, which allows ticket holders to view the Museum’s current special exhibit and visit the Museum Store, where we also sell “Mary’s Blend.”

Children’s Teas

Every year the Plymouth Historical Museum offers an adult-child tea on the Sunday before Mother’s Day. Children, ages 4-10, meet princesses and other fictional characters while working on crafts and gifts for their mothers. The tea is noon-2 pm. After the children pose for pictures with the character of the day, and finish their fun crafts, they are treated to tea delectables provided by our fabulous caterer, Diann Dupuis, who has been making tea snacks for us for more than ten years.

As with our other events, tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page. This event usually sells out, so don’t hesitate to purchase tickets when they’re available.

Murder Mysteries

Join us for an evening of suspense at the Plymouth Historical Museum as we interrogate the suspects in the latest murder mystery. Help us solve this dastardly murder while enjoying pizza and cookies. We offer murder mysteries in June and December. Our event is set up as a “theater in the round” (except that it’s a rectangle), with the suspects in the middle. The murder is announced, the suspects start interrogating each other, and then the audience gets to participate. Once the pizza is delivered and consumed, accusations are made and the murderous plot is revealed. And it’s not always the butler!

It’s interesting to note that the suspects are members of the Plymouth Living History Troupe and are given limited information. Their interactions are extemporaneous and frequently hilarious! As with our other events, tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page.

Special Experiences

Time Escape Adventure

The Plymouth Historical Museum presents its very own “Time Escape Adventure.” If you like escape rooms, then you will love this teamwork scavenger hunt. You have entered a time portal to the 19th century and you are challenged to locate a time machine to return to the present before you are vaporized. All of your sleuthing skills will be needed to save yourself and your party.
The museum is your “Escape Room” and you will never experience anything like it. If you’re interested in booking a Time Escape Adventure, please contact the Museum’s Marketing Specialist at 734-455-8940 x0. Please be flexible with your dates as we need to schedule around other Museum activities.
Be sure to also check out our new Time Escape Adventure Party for ages 12-17.

Experience Events

Step back in time in our new historical experience events. Whether it’s walking down a hidden staircase to enter a forbidden speakeasy from the 1920s, or rocking to tunes on a 1950s jukebox, or cutting up the dance floor in a 1970s disco, immersive experiences are happening at the Plymouth Historical Museum. Because these events offer alcohol, the minimum age is 21.

Watch for announcements on our Upcoming Events page or on our Facebook page. We currently have “The Jukebox Experience” scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, and “The Disco Experience” scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026. As with our other events, tickets go on sale to the public about 2 months before the event date. Members can purchase tickets 2 weeks before they go on sale to the public. If you’d like to join the Plymouth Historical Museum, visit our Membership page.
